    The History of Socilet's Zero Advance Payment Model

    Socilet was founded in 2022 in Bhopal, India. This page documents why the Zero Advance Payment model was created, what the first version looked like, and how it works today.

    The problem we set out to solve

    In the Indian digital services market, a 30-50% advance is standard practice. For a first-time business owner that advance is pure risk: money leaves the account before a single line of code exists, and the only leverage after that is hope.

    Socilet was built on the opposite assumption — if the work is good, the payment takes care of itself. Removing the advance moved the risk from the client to us, which forced us to deliver before we invoiced.

    Socilet founded in Bhopal

    Dheeraj Tagde started Socilet in 2022 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, as a small WordPress and web development studio serving local businesses and first-time founders.

    The problem we kept seeing

    Almost every client we spoke to had the same story: they had paid a 30-50% advance to a freelancer or agency and received a half-finished template, endless delays, or nothing at all. The advance was the risk — not the price.

    First version of the model — "build first, invoice later"

    The first version was informal: no advance, a working demo delivered on our own hosting, and an invoice only after the client approved it. It was tested on a handful of small business websites before it became the default.

    2023

    Zero Advance Payment becomes company policy

    After the early projects closed successfully, the model was formalised: 0% upfront on WordPress and standard website projects, milestone-based terms only on large custom builds, and full IP handover on payment.

    2024

    Scaling to app development and international clients

    The same policy was extended to Android, iOS and React Native projects, and to clients in the USA, Canada, UK and Australia — markets where "pay after delivery" was an even stronger differentiator.

    2025-2026

    Live project tracking and workspaces

    Zero Advance today is backed by tooling: a live project tracker, shared client workspaces, written guarantees, and structured invoices — so "pay later" is transparent rather than a leap of faith.

    Founder statement

    "When I started Socilet in 2022, almost every client I met had already lost money to an advance payment. I decided we would simply not take one. We build first, we show the work, and we get paid when the client is happy. It is a slower way to grow a company, but it is the only version of this business I wanted to run."
